The Director and Founder
Gloria Mitchell, Ph.D. is a psychologist who provides an integrative, multidisciplinary approach to her work. Dr. Mitchell strives to understand all aspects of a client’s past development at the biological, psychological, cognitive, social, and cultural levels and encourages her clients awareness and understanding of how these aspects influence current levels of functioning. Her interest in existential therapy, psychoanalysis, Buddhist psychology, imago therapy, systems theory, and effective and responsible communication also significantly informs her work with her clients.
She is particularly interested in working with clients who want to make meaningful changes in their lives and in their relationships. Dr. Mitchell completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Pederson Krag Behavioral Health Center, Postdoctoral training at the Alfred Adler Institute, Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology at Queens College, PhD in Developmental Psychology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, MA in Psychology at New School University, and BA in Philosophy at Hunter College. She also founded and directs Gloria Mitchell, PhD and Associates and formerly, Close Kid Encounters.
